Castletown has probably the most complete mediaeval castle in Europe but has far more of interest than just the ancient stronghold.
It might have been the island’s capital for over 700 years but the town doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Annually it hosts the World Tin Bath Championship, has a confetti carnival and was once home to a world-famous museum of magic and witchcraft.
