A little bit about Manannan

The ancient Celtic god, Manannan Mac Lir, was the first ruler and protector of Mann. Manannan is also god of the “otherworld” sometimes known as the “Land of the Faerie”. He is well chronicled in the Ancient Irish Tales and appears in both Scottish and Welsh folklore, plus it is hinted that he is the Merlin of English mythology. But his home will always be the Isle of Man, which he shields from harm with his cloak of mist, and repels invaders by taking the form of a three legged wheel of fire thundering down the hillsides. Hence, from where the symbol of the 3 legs of Man is derived.
