Once again we were back for Tynwald Day 2021. After not being there last year because of lockdown, it was great to see everyone out enjoying themselves in the lovely sunshine. We especially love meeting all the wonderful doggies with their proud owners. It was a bit like ticking off dogs in those "I-Spy" books. Saluki, pug, dachshund, labrador, malamute, jack russell, etc. It was especially emotional to see the PTSD dogs with their ex servicemen owners. Two huge fluffy cuddly dogs wearing their special harnesses.
Preparation for our stand at Tynwald is always hard work. We spend the week before sorting out what products we are taking and how we want to display it. The day before we go down and set up the stand. On the day we are there for 7.30am to lay out everything, then change our minds and re-do it. At 5pm we pack everything away and put it all into the car. Somehow even though we are going home with less stock, it sees to take up more room. Probably the rush to pack it all in to a small space before we collapse. Then the following day is spent putting the products all back into stock. It's a great day though. The only downside this year was the disruption in a wifi service meaning that most stall holders lost out on sales because card payments couldn't be taken. Manx Telecom apologised the following day. It was due to unprecedented usage at St Johns. !!!!!!!!
So next outing will be the Food & Drink Festival in September.
