Laxey sits on the East coast of the island. A pretty little village with white cottages filling its hillsides. Laxey is proud to have the largest working water wheel in the world. The Lady Isabella was used to pump water out of the lead mine. The name Laxey derives from the Old Norse Laxa meaning 'Salmon River'. It also has three working vintage railways (Snaefell mountain railway, The mines railway and the Electric tram railway) and is the location of the Viking King Orry's Grave.
Laxey is also our home and we are very proud to be part of the Laxey Woollen Mill.
