Sitting in the middle of the Irish sea, midway between Ireland and England, the Isle of Man is 33 miles long and 13 miles wide. The Island has a population of approx 76,000 and natives of the Island are known as Manx. The Manx name for the Isle of Man is Ellan Vannin.
We have our own Government, currency, stamps, language, unique animals and just one mountain, Snaefell.
The Isle of Man has attracted visitors for many years. The Victorians flocked to the Island in their thousands, especially the Mill workers from Lancashire who would take their seaside holidays here. This new tourist industry helped to shape the Islands capital Douglas with its Victorian seafront facade.
The Isle of Man has everything to offer the tourist. Castles, museums, rugged coastlines, Victorian transport, History and heritage, thatched cottages, wildlife, sporting attractions, scenic landscapes and wooded glens.
